Journal 8

    Last night I did my two hours of reading to enable me to catch up with the other students, so I have an understanding of the book so I know how to better assist the student with their papers.  Today on May 16, 2023. I had an Mri appointment, so I had to miss my human rights and 9th grade English class, but communicated with Jennifer, and Morgan Salathe so they could tell me what I can make up for out of class today. They communicated with me what they were needing so I could better know how to assist them. In addition, I went to my last class today which was the Russian class With Jennifer Baker. It was an hour block were I mostly took control and organized the class. I told them a little bit about the short reading last class Memoirs of a Madman. I gave them a little bit of what I read and just made connections with how the reading relates to human rights. Afterwards, I gave the student time to work on their projects that were assigned to them.  After school, I worked on what Jen and Morgan wanted me to do. It took me 5 hours, and my total time log for today is 6 hours.

  My first block today, May 18, 2023, was African Studies. I proofread more student work and kept working on my Google slides for my presentation to the class tomorrow May 19. The topic of the symposium will be "Ethnicity in Africa." Will Wamaru wanted me to put together a slide due after the topic because I have had quite a few experiences being Nigerian, and he thought I would have more details about ethnicity since I am part of ethnic group in Nigeria. In addition, I attended the Human Rights class, next block where we continued watching documentaries related to the class, and I worked on proofreading student papers. I also visited Morgan Salathe's 9th grade class and taught the students what a block quotation is and how to make one, and we gave the students time to keep working on their papers. Today May 19, 2023 I went to my first block class which is Morgan Salathe’s  9th grade English class. For class,  we did a little field trip, and took the student down to the Library, and did some activities and left the student to continue working on their papers, and that was an hour of class time. I was free afterwards and had to finish working on my slides for African studies, and also get prepared for my presentation. Presentation skills is something I am  hoping to keep learning in the next phase of my life. That's why I knew being a teacher's assistant will serve as a resource with public speaking and also with communication skills. I spent 4 hours after my first block preparing, and also making sure I am offering my best work to the students. Finally finished with the slide, I got lunch then went back to my dorm to take a nap before the big presentation.   Journal 13 Today May 23, 2023 I attended my second block class which was the Human Rights Class. Due to the fact that the student final project will be due this week, Jen gave students the  opportunity to ask final questions, make adjustments, and to make sure the students got the rubrics down. I rendered my help to students as usual and that was an hour of class. The second class was Will Wamaru's class where I pretty much watched the students make presentations and show their passions for the project. In conclusion, today was kind of a chill day and much of observing the students.
